2025 In Review

2025 was a busy year of growth and expansion for the Connections Music Therapy Team.

The year began with CMT being Voted #1 for both Music Lessons and Youth Music Lessons in the Community Votes London campaign for 2024.

In January, Kylie joined our team as a Certified Music Therapist and Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist, bringing a vast experience in Long Term Care with her.

In the spring, we partnered with TVCC to facilitate the first ‘Mini Music’ group for children ages 18 months - 3 years old. This group was full of energy and explored early learning skills such as following directions, turn taking, letters, and numbers.

We continued to host our Therapeutic Drumming and Music program with TVCC for youth ages 7-21 from the spring through to the winter. This group explored drumming, song writing, movement to music, and improvisation in an inclusive environment. Seeing friendships develop among participants as they encouraged each other was heart warming.

In May 2025, CMT opened a new studio inside Maple and Spruce Music Academy in Westmount Shopping Centre. A successful grand opening celebration was held in June, with clients, family, and community members stopping in to see our new space.

To celebrate our 10 years of supporting the community, CMT completed a rebranding with the help of Registered Graphic Designed Katie Wilhelm. Katie designed CMT’s new logo, website, and print material, giving CMT the refreshed and modern look you see today.

Summer brought the addition of Skylar to our team; a new Music Therapist and Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist, with extensive experience in supporting youth and mental health. We also said farewell to Amy from our team, as she went on to pursue her Masters of Social Work at Western University.

Throughout the year, Jess participated in various public speaking engagements and workshops, including appearances at the Chippewas of the Thames First Nations Elder Abuse Seminar and ATN Employment Services.

The CMT team was proud to be part of the inaugural Best Buddies Friendship Walk in London, where we participated in the walk and also held a community booth. Jillian from the CMT team was the #1 fundraiser for all of London - way to go Jillian!

CMT held our first annual spring and winter recitals, in partnership with Maple and Spruce Music Academy. Both recitals were a huge success and enjoyed by performers and spectators alike. Bravery was shown as clients performed for a full audience, with some even sharing original compositions.

As we get ready to say goodbye to 2025, we wish everyone a restful and peaceful holiday season and look forward to all the excitement to come in 2026 - stay tuned!
